Adding my 2 cents…

Okay so I decided to add my 2 cents to all of the uncalled-for hoopla. There it was Saturday and I am finally able to work on my own home PC (hard drive crashed Friday night) and in checking my internet connection I decided to stop past my man’s blog to see what bit of information he has dropped and I see MLK Day is not my holiday and I first say to myself “Oh lord don’t tell me this fool is at it again.”

But then I read his first few sentences which PLAINLY STATED

This will be controversial, I hope it sparks some comments. I don’t intend to censor (nor do I ever censor as a general rule), but I will censor personal attacks.

And I go okay and proceed to read on. Now both Technosailor & Fire Wolf are not just by law but also by GOD are entitled to express their personal feelings and thoughts. What so funny is I began to understand exactly what they were trying to say. So in keeping with my own personal theme I am going to PUT DIS HAMMA DOWN ONE TIME!!!!

On my own blog I have expressed in a few post the first and most important factor in all of this and that is there is an embedded anger in some blacks that no matter how subtle you try to approach a subject or ask a question that a black person is going to go off the deep end. So as a black man I am qualified to say what I am going to say. And do me a favor…IF YOU HAVE A SIZE 12 FOOT DON’T TRY TO STICK IT IN THIS SIZE 6 SHOE because we do have a problem with keeping our mouths shut when the subject doesn’t reflect us.

Firstly MLKJR bar none has done a lot for the black race and he does deserve to be honored but let’s just leave the person MLKJR out of this and venture into the real cause and reason for MLKJR Day. After his untimely death there were some others who had rolled with him that for some strange reason felt it was time to pursue their own personal agendas. THAT’S RIGHT I SAID IT…WHAT!!! Jesse Jackson (whom I feel is a dawg and really doesn’t care about his race) was one who had a personal agenda. Dick Gregory should not have had to starve himself the many times he did just to raise awareness to the state of our race. And those are just two, to name a few others who rolled with MLKJR and was not only given an opportunity to continue on what he started without thier personal agendas involved. Now Mr. Gregory in my eyes was nowhere near as bad as Jesse. But then I can’t forget about Al Sharpton (Rev. Pimp on the streets) who has used (or exploited for those PC people) almost everyone in his race for personal gain.

Both TRIED to run for president knowing they had a snowballs chance in hell of winning but look at all the money they did get. By the show of hands let me see how many people recieved any of that so-called extra unspent contribution money in their communities…That’s what I thought…None of you.

Look there are some blacks who have contributed to the history of this world long before MLKJR did and I must admit as a decendant of one I have never seen my race fight for holidays for them. And then let’s go a bit further into it…we don’t even know how to treat each other within the race so do you really think MLKJR stood for that but yet we are the first to say “Oh MLK Day is coming up that’s a day off” and you end up doing nothin to improve relations within the race. Some of us use MLK Day to become the militant/rebel and then when given the chance to stand for something you shut up in fear of losing what little bit you have. Call that being a PUNK where I come from. Don’t you know MLK Day was only given so those people who were raising hell with the President & Congress would shut up. But somebody didn’t listen to MLK’s Wife when she said “Now is the time for us as a people to help make the dream a reality”.

Do I sound pissed off? I am! I am sick & tired of my own people being the cause and problem. Now it is not ALL blacks but it is enough of them. Probably the 80% of them. Look at how our children act. Look at the neighborhoods we live in. Most blacks want to move out of the hood if given the chance and the one’s that stay probably can’t afford to leave. We spend time glorifying people like Lil’ Kim, Snoop Doog (who probably has gotten some of your wives, daughter’s and sister’s to strip), P.Diddy, R. Kelly and let’s not forget Mike Tyson. They do not reflect who I am nor who I want to be. The OLD BLACK WOMAN want to be young, the YOUNG BLACK WOMAN want to be old and the untrained BLACK BOYS outnumber the good black men so we are not taken serious and are extremely overshadowed.

I have been shown more LOVE & RESPECT by other races in my 38 years of living than I have my own. Family members PLAYA HATIN at my progress and growth, fake smilin in my face hoping for me to fail. Hell, we can’t even go worship GOD in our black churches without some kind of drama. So yes I am very familiar with how we act. MLKJR Day was supposed to be a day for us all to reflect on where we were, where we are, and where we want to go COLLECTIVELY AS A PEOPLE not become a one day militant and keep it within the race.

So with that being said he did nothing wrong at all. And before I close out I just want to say this to those people out here who say “I have got BLACK friends” or “I’ve got a black person in my family” or even “I love sleeping with blacks” or whatever connection you try to hold to the race. It doesn’t matter what your connection is…”If you ain’t born with it, you will never know it”. We don’t need your sympathy, approval or P.R..

I’m out!

No comment is needed. It is what I have been saying since I stepped into the blog arena. How can you get past the problem if you can’t address it head on first.Aaron really is a good person and he meant no harm in what he wrote and I took it as a personal attack when many other bloggers decided to NOT read his preface before reading his content.Oh trust as HAPPY and ENERGETIC as you have called me I am NOT afraid of controversy either.

Sean,Good article. And thank you for looking past the surface and reading whatever you want into our topics to come up with some half cocked truth. It takes a rational and intellectual mind like yours to DISCUSS a topic rather than rant and accuse. I may not be black, I do have friends who are, and while that doesn’t teach me what it’s like I have seen racism against them first hand. Try walking into a restaurant in Louisianna or Mississippi and you will see first hand as I have how black people are still discriminated over white people. And for me, that tells me not only that MLKj’s dream hasn’t succeeded, but that in a “civilized” society, we aren’t enlightened.

I had Aaron remove my original comment because when I read it again, I realised it probably didn’t make much sense to anyone but me. Sorry for that.I’m sensing a little…hostility(?) so I think I’ll wait until I can post something coherent — I don’t want anything to be misconstrued.

Okay. Now I can actually put some thought into this instead of posting randomly. For what it’s worth, I don’t think Aaron’s a bad person — just a careless writer. The two are not intertwined to the point of no return, and careless writing has no reflection on one’s moral character — at least not to me.After the election, I made a few posts that were…careless, and Aaron pointed that out — in fact, I think that’s how we “met”. Anyway, after thinking about what he said — I realised he was right. There’s no sense in spouting off just for the sake of spouting off, which is what I felt Aaron did with his MLK post. But it certainly doesn’t change how I view Aaron as a person. Free speech is free speech, period.
