Health Issues

It’s been a few days since I posted. I can attribute that to a few things such as a brief trip to New Jersey and working on the new theme. However, the most notable thing in the past few days has been the acknowledgement by my doctor of heart issues. He is not sure what is wrong yet, but I am scheduled for an echocardiogram – a nice way of saying I need a sonogram of my heart – in July. The symptoms? Many times I will be sitting at the computer working, or laying on the couch trying to catch a few winks or any number of other activities when it feels like there’s a freight train in my head as the blood rushes past my ears. My heart feels like it is going to jump from my chest. Blood Pressure normal at these times, as is the pulse.

So he is not certain if I am having anxiety attacks or if this is actually a physical heart condition.

Aaron, I hope everything comes out okay and it’s nothing serious. :/

I like the new theme, although it’s way too narrow on my 20″ cinema display. :)

  3. My heart bleeds for you with that 20″, Marc. The life of a student is so hard. ;)

I think your heart issues began when you got so excited about the job opening at Yahoo… Joking aside, make sure you get a clear report from your doctor and drink more red wine…

I like the new theme, but as Marc commented it does seem kinda narrow…

  6. I hope you get this cleared up ASAP and it’s nothing big at all.

    Feel better Aaron!

P.S. – Like the new design, but like Marc said, it’s a little narrow.

  8. Dude I too am sorry to hear that. You know you have been and always will be in my prayers.

But I have got to tell you to take is slow man. I understand the desires to succeed but you can’t do JACK without your health.

You know if there is anything you need all you got to do is holla.

    God Bless BRO’.

  9. Thanks everyone. :) Your concerns are greatly appreciated. I’m not sure what the cause of the heart problems is. It has given me incentive to at least think about quitting smoking, something that I was not very serious about before. The job? Well, I don’t really think it’s that much of a stress-factor to be honest, but maybe it is. I’ll be talking more to my doctor leading up to and after the tests.

Hmmm, wanna be my quitting buddy? I’m stopping as of Wednesday because too many people I know have been having health issues lately :(.

  14. Geez, Vinnie. Wednesday?! No pressure or anything… :( I think I’m going to need to do the patch because I’ve been smoking for too long and…it’s just hard…

According to some recent health studies I saw, you have a much higher chance of relapse if you use quitting aids like the patch or Commit lozenges versus going cold turkey. I have some money put aside for Commit just in case, but I’m trying cold turkey first.

As a person who quit smoking (cold turkey mind you) October 19th 2003, I can say without a doubt that it has done me good. I will warn you tho that if you have done it for a long while, it may show you other health symptoms that had been hiding behind your habit.

The hardest part about not smoking isn’t the nicotine withdrawl, that goes away after 7 days of not having any (and not using a patch), it’s all the mind games your brain will try and convince you of as it relates to starting up again.

I used to have dreams for about 6 months after I quit about walking into a gas station and admiring the rows of smokes behind the counter and desiring to light up again.

If you can beat the mind games, you can beat smoking, and be a healthier person for it!

Trust me, the food is much tastier ;)

I hope that all is well with your heart Aaron, you are much too talented to leave this earth this soon :)

    Take it easy my friend!

  27. Well, Vinnie, that’s easy enough to remedy. Just get yourself some cool shades and the Season 1 and 2 Box set of American Idol, brew yourself a cappuchinno (iced on hot days like today) and wear a W.W.J.D. bracelet and you’ll be 100% cool again. :)
