When I hear the brand name “Casio”, I think about cheap watches and even cheaper musical keyboard knockoffs. So it surprised me as I was perusing various online retailers for digital camera to come across some very highly rated Casio cameras. My initial instinct is to not buy Casio and instead turn to Olympus or Canons. But I have to ask, how do you feel about Casio as a camera brand name? Do they produce quality equipment?

As a photograph hobbiest, I stick with Canon, but Nikon follows closely. I wouldn’t recommend any other camera manufacturer to anyone. Canon and Nikon have passed the test of time and seem always be on top of cutting edge technology.
I went to CNET where I always find great recommendations and looked up Casio – http://reviews.cnet.com/4566-6501_7-0.html?filter=1000036_5245166_&tag=dffl3_1
As a point and shoot camera, none of the reviews seemed to shock me, but for the same price, you can get the same or better from Canon. Maybe you are paying for the name, but it’s a name I trust.

Ok, Stacie. But why the brand loyalty? What is it about Canon and Nikon would make me pay for the name? Just curious… Educate me.
